In 1985, two brothers recognised the need to cater for people with food allergies and today the company exports over 85 products worldwide. In 2007, it introduced Orgran Outback Animal Cookies that are free from gluten, wheat, dairy, eggs, yeast, soy and nuts. The cookies contain calcium carbonate for children who are unable to consume dairy, and were developed after the company recognised children weren't specifically catered for in the allergen free market.

Since 2004, the company has strived to inform the community about the importance of Fairtrade products and workers rights.
