Award Categories
There are five Award categories.
- HTC Start-Up Award – For businesses that have been operating for between one and three years and have up to 200 employees
- News Limited Micro-Business Award - For businesses with five or less employees
- MYOB Small Business Award - For businesses with more than five employees, and up to 20 employees
- Commonwealth Bank Medium Business Award - For businesses with more than 20 employees, and up to 200 employees
- Telstra Regional Award - For the most outstanding regional business located outside the metropolitan areas of the capital cities in each state and territory
State/Territory Awards
All finalists are presented on stage with their certificate. Winners are announced at the gala black tie celebration dinners.
National Award
State and territory winners are flown to Nationals where we celebrate the best of the best over two days culminating in a glittering gala dinner where the 2012 Telstra Australian Business of the Year is announced.
1300Australia People’s Choice Award
The 1300Australia People’s Choice Award is open to all entrants who submit a completed entry. From Wednesday 4 April entrants will be allowed to upload their profile to the Awards website and Facebook application where the public can vote for their favourite business. Voting is limited to one vote per person. The five finalists in each state and territory will be invited to their respective events, where the winner will receive cash and/or prizes worth $2,000. Entries and voting open Wednesday 4 April and close at midnight on Monday 28 May.
