Who's eligible to enter?
We encourage you to read the entry details and download the information pack and use it as a planning tool – entries for the Awards open again in February 2013.
Nominated businesses will be eligible to enter the 2012 Telstra Australian Business Awards providing all of the following criteria are met.
The nominated business has to:
- reside in Australia
- have a registered Australian Business Number;
- have been operating in Australia for at least 12 months as at Monday 2 April 2012; and
- be more than 60% Australian owned, with the owner/s responsible for making the key management decisions
The nominated business cannot:
- have more than 200 full time equivalent (FTE) staff as at the close of entries date, Monday 2 April 2012;
- be a listed company, a franchisee, franchisor, a club, co-operative, non-profit organisation or a Telstra licensee;
- be more than 50% owned by another business;
- be either: a) a recipient of significant on-going government funding (i.e. the business is reliant upon the funding for operation); or b) a government agency;
- have employees who have been involved in the judging of the Awards program in 2010 or 2011;
- be a contracted commercial supplier to the 2012 Telstra Australian Business Awards; or
- have won an Award in the same category in 2011. The nominated business can enter a different category in 2012

The Awards determine that the business is ‘operating’ when the registered company starts transacting financially, and this is supported through four key areas:
- A registered ABN
- Evidence of the business paying Australian taxes
- Employing Australians
- Having active Australian customers
