Western Australian businesses bring bold talent to this year’s Awards

An event company that brings silent discos to private parties, local pubs and clubs and festivals in Perth is one of 24 brilliant Western Australian businesses recognised as state finalists in the 2016 Telstra Business Awards.

Now in their 24th year, the Awards showcase and celebrate the achievements of the state’s most brilliant small and medium businesses across five categories: New Business, Micro Business, Small Business, Medium Business, and for the first time, Charity, which is designed to recognise the significant contribution of not-for-profit organisations to not only Australian communities but the economy as well.

All four of WA’s Charity finalists support patients and their families affected by serious illness. One of them, Telethon Adventurers, takes a unique approach to raise money for childhood brain cancer: Its programs’ participants choose an outdoor adventure, such as mountain climbing, to challenge their physical boundaries whilst at the same time, channelling that same energy and determination into fundraising for the institute.

Audiovault Industries and HideAway Haven play tribute to the diversity of the businesses that make up the Micro Business Award category. Audiovault Industries specialises in the entertainment and equipment hire of silent discos and events and HideAway Haven offers travellers a luxury bed and breakfast experience in the region of Albany.

Other finalists include: The Yoga Vine, a yoga studio in Perth’s CBD that seeks to take out the stresses of modern work and living, and on the other end of the spectrum, Bushfire Prone Planning, a risk management consultancy business that offers state-wide specialist bushfire management services.

Telstra Business Awards Ambassador, Andy Ellis, says this year’s finalists demonstrate the innovative, entrepreneurial spirit of Australian businesses.

“The Telstra Business Awards shine a light on brilliant businesses in every corner and every sector of Australia. We are pleased to see that the finalists in Western Australia are as diverse as they are disruptive, with businesses from bushfire planning to silent disco hire.

“These finalists demonstrate that passion and determination coupled with strong business acumen can turn a dream into a profitable and sustainable business,” Mr Ellis said.
