When his job installing powerlines for the South Australian Government ended, Jonathan Nitschke noticed there was high demand for drilling water wells in the Adelaide Hills. In 1962, he borrowed $35,000 and bought a truck mounted drilling rig. The company now has a modern fleet of 17 rigs used for coal exploration, coal seam gas, iron ore, mine service holes and water well drilling across Australia.

As director and chief engineer, Geoff started by servicing small fixed wing aircraft before growing to a team of six and expanding into helicopters. In its first year the business completed more than 200 jobs.
